    MedStudy’s Evolution

Sometimes, when you’re so focused on the future, it is hard to pull yourself away and think about your past. But because it’s fun to revive aspects of years past (we’re looking at you, Murphy Brown), we’d like to walk down memory lane and show you how MedStudy products have evolved over the years.

Having just released the new 18th Edition Internal Medicine study solutions, it is hard to believe that the first Core Curriculum—now Core—was released in 1991. Sparked by the frustration Tony Hannaman, MD, MedStudy’s founder, experienced while searching for high-quality study materials, the idea for MedStudy has grown from a single resource to a fully integrated line of study solutions.

When developing the Internal Medicine Review Core Curriculum almost three decades ago, Tony knew he was in the process of revolutionizing the way physicians prepared for certification and recertification exams. What he didn’t know was that all these years later, MedStudy would be on its 18th Edition for Internal Medicine and its 8th Edition for Pediatrics.

Today, MedStudy has over 700 contributing physicians, an entire team of copyeditors, and the only integrated study resource for internists. “At MedStudy, we are dedicated to making the best study materials for physicians to learn and maintain competency,” states Hannaman. “Every two years, we publish new editions and each edition surpasses the previous one with up-to-date content, better writing, clearer explanations, and pitch-perfect coverage—just what you need to know without the fluff.”

Over the years, the biggest driver of product development and MedStudy’s evolution has come via technology. These days the Core, flashcards, audio reviews, Q&As, courses, video reviews, and more are available at our customers’ fingertips in digital format. “All of our products have evolved to include a digital platform,” says Peggy Dahl, Course Coordinator, and MedStudy employee for over 15 years.

The really cool enhancements and products we are developing now are intensely exciting, says Hannaman. “At the end of the day, we feel good thinking that we at MedStudy are doing our best to help create a healthier, happier world.”
